High Country Morning
About the Artist
During my high school and college years, drawing and photography shared my attentions as graphic arts of choice. As time went on, I was increasingly moved by the work of photographers whose work demonstrated a strong graphic sense, quality separate and apart from subject matter.
While in my own work I look to produce images that are compelling without regard to subject matter, I’m drawn mostly to the natural world. Living in the central Sierra Nevada provides a wealth of material for my art. Whether driving or hiking in the Sierra, my eyes are always searching for interesting patterns and compositions.
While I certainly don’t pass up the opportunity to photograph grand scenes in the California landscape when the situation is right, I am more often drawn to the quieter, more intimate scenes that often command little notice.
