Vision Statement
This is my first ever embroidered portrait and a difficult project as I am an introvert and hate even having my photograph taken. The act of studying my own face so closely, having that information go in through my eyes and percolate through my body, filtering out through my fingers into stitch upon stitch was a slow and contemplative process. Seeing the image not as myself but as a series of colours and shapes, highlights and shadows. Discovering not only a new creative technique but also discovering myself in a new way.
