Venus of Owosso references a long history of the female nude. However, this particular nude is not made for the male voyeur but in response to the experience of being watched. This piece explores the glass house of female adolescence and the impossibility of escaping the ever present gaze of society. It explores themes of hopelessness and the surrendering of self.
