Vision Statement

I call this piece witnessing, as it represents the deep sense of grief and feeling of powerlessness when witnessing the forests of the Sierras succumb to raging wildfires after years of drought. Trusting in the resiliency of the Earth, and honoring the cyclical nature of creation, there is always hope for the future; of healing, restoration, regrowth, and abundance. At the same time, the forests I walked through as a child are forever changed. The red of my eye reflects the outer scene; while also representing the inner combustion of old ways, perspectives, identities, relationships, and desires. In this time of great changes, we are all brought to the fire. Acrylic on 8”x8” canvas.
