Rosebud
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anaïs Nin. I painted ROSEBUD as a reminder for myself, and everyone who sees it, that even our darkest of times can be cultivated and transformed into beauty we never imagined ourselves capable of creating. A velvety rosebud first begins as a seed in the cold, dark ground. Alone, without light, waiting for the chance to become. The seed uses its surrounding darkness to feed itself, to sprout roots. The roots turn into stems that keep striving until they finally pierce through the darkness and into the light. The light. From the stems come the leaves, and then the thorns to protect the journey the seed has already fought so hard for – to become the blooming rose with its wild, delicate beauty. ROSEBUD reminds us in those times when we find ourselves immersed in darkness, it is not our ending, but an opportunity to create a beautiful new beginning.
