Visions of Self is an annual show of work from female artists across the world. It’s hosted by the Women’s Voices, Women’s Vision group of Yosemite Sierra Artists. In our second year, we’re featuring over 100 artists from 14 countries, with work including the subjects of self-portraiture, environment, emotions, and state of being.
In Bloom
I wanted to create something that was both bizarre and familiar. I am very passionate about the beauty of nature and the beauty of Black women which fueled my desire to find a way to simultaneously express those sentiments. So while it is not normal for a woman to grow flowers from her head, I wanted to create a vision of something you may have never seen before while incorporating elements of things and people you see all the time.
