Visions of Self is an annual show of work from female artists across the world. It’s hosted by the Women’s Voices, Women’s Vision group of Yosemite Sierra Artists. In our second year, we’re featuring over 100 artists from 14 countries, with work including the subjects of self-portraiture, environment, emotions, and state of being.

Charcoal

One of a four piece body of work, in which I explore my various states of emotion throughout the months of 2020 with charcoal on layered Mylar. Amidst a global pandemic, a battle against racism, forest fires, killer bugs, confirmed UFO sightings, and a presidential election, I found myself unemployed at twenty-one during three months of quarantine. My emotional state soon matched the fluid state of the world. In this work I conceptually address feelings of helplessness with the portrayal of the fawn.
