Visions of Self is an annual show of work from female artists across the world. It’s hosted by the Women’s Voices, Women’s Vision group of Yosemite Sierra Artists. In our second year, we’re featuring over 100 artists from 14 countries, with work including the subjects of self-portraiture, environment, emotions, and state of being.

All my life I have been the victim of shaming based on my looks whether it be my body or my face. The unrealistic beauty standards placed on women slowly convinced me that looks are everything and the way I look is who I am. After growth and self-reflection I finally saw that there is so much more to myself than the way I look and that looks were in fact the least important thing about myself. This piece aims to represent my struggle to find a sense of self after finally realizing that my appearance is not who I am.
